Congrats Youth Over Violence Leadership Institute Graduates!
In July, 21 students plus 5 youth ambassadors aged 13 to 19 from over 20 LA County schools and learning centers completed the Youth Over Violence Summer Leadership Institute.
POV’s Violence Prevention Specialists shared anti-violence and healthy relationship tools through our signature curriculum, In Touch With Teens, which focuses on empowering youth to have healthy relationships by providing information about power and control, elements of healthy relationships and healthy sexuality, and media literacy as well as education on sexual harassment, sexual assault, and dating violence. The updated third edition of this curriculum along with its digital companion Make A Choice will be available for purchase this fall.
For their final projects, students reflected on what they learned through art and video–connecting their training with personal feelings and experiences. One memorable project was a “DV Concealer” makeup ad challenging stereotypes about survivors.

With strengthened leadership skills, our YOV graduates will continue promoting safer, healthier communities through STOP clubs at their schools throughout the year.
