Who are the people in our Village?

Jose Meneses, Youth Over Violence Institute Alumnus, Peace Over Violence Board Member and Attorney

“I’m a sustainer because I believe in giving survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence the hope that they have an opportunity to live a fulfilled life; because I believe in giving survivors the agency in pursuing the future that’s right for them; and because I believe that POV can support them in that journey. “

Peggie Reyna, Deaf & Disabled Community Advocate

“I am a sustaining donor to Peace Over Violence because the excellent work done by this agency provides clients with the skills, services, and support needed to end the cycle of violence and create a new, violence-free life for themselves and their children, grandchildren, and future generations.”

Dr. Ramani Durvasula, Ph.D., Founder and CEO, LUNA Education, Training and Consulting, Clinical Psychologist, Professor Emerita, California State University Los Angeles, New York Times and International Bestselling Author

“I give to POV because now more than ever we must support women and families experiencing domestic abuse and intimate partner violence. The trauma-informed focus, intersectional lens, and holistic support provided through POV as well as the training of future advocates and clinicians is what our greater Los Angeles community and the world at large need today and every day.”

Angie and Gordon Wimpress

“We give monthly to Peace Over Violence because we know that the healing services offered to those who have experienced sexual or interpersonal violence are critical in guiding a survivor from fear and pain, to hope, confidence, and resilience.

We give monthly because the numerous staff and volunteers care so deeply for the work they do to help survivors in crisis that they do so, day and night, either in-person or on the phone or video call. They change lives just by showing up, providing comfort, advocacy, a gentle voice, a referral, or a listening ear.

We give monthly because we believe in Peace Over Violence.”
