Lunch Over Violence 2025: Community & Conversation

We did it — our first-ever Lunch Over Violence (LOV) was a big success! More than 250 guests gathered at the stunning Taglyan Cultural Complex for a celebration of empowerment, compassion, and connection.

The afternoon began in Taglyan’s sunlit courtyard, where guests posed for photos on the purple carpet, enjoyed appetizers and conversation, and sipped the signature LOVender Lemonade mocktail before moving into the ballroom for an inspiring program.

Two incredible leaders were honored for their lasting impact. LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis received the Legacy Over Violence Award, presented by Dr. Barbara Ferrer, recognizing her decades of advocacy for equity, safety, and community well-being. POV also announced the creation of the Hilda and Beatriz Solis Youth & Family Center, honoring the sisters’ shared commitment to supporting families across Los Angeles County.

Dr. Ramani Durvasula, acclaimed psychologist and author, was honored with the Empowerment Award, presented by POV’s Director of Clinical Services & Trauma Recovery, Wendy Blanco, for her groundbreaking work on relationships, trauma, and understanding narcissistic behavior.

Special guest actor and author Bethany Joy Lenz then joined Dr. Ramani for The Conversation — a dynamic and heartfelt discussion about recognizing narcissism, building self-awareness, and fostering healthy relationships. Guests were deeply engaged, and the dialogue brought insight and inspiration to the afternoon. LOV concluded with an interactive online raffle, and a delicious dessert and coffee buffet.

At a time when our world faces deep division, rising hate, and fear-driven narratives, Lunch Over Violence reminded us of the antidote: coming together. Gathering in community — to listen, learn, and lift each other up — is an act of strength and love. This event offered a space to reconnect with POV’s mission and renew our shared vision of a world free from violence.

Thank you to everyone who supported this inaugural event and continues to stand with POV. We are especially grateful to our sponsors, whose partnership and generosity make this work possible.

See you next year for more LOV!
