Back-to-Back Recognition: POV DART Advocates Honored for Outstanding Service to Survivors

For the second consecutive year, a Peace Over Violence Domestic Abuse Response Team (DART) advocate has been recognized with an Outstanding Service to Victims of Domestic Violence Award.

These back-to-back honors reflect not only the exceptional efforts of two advocates, but also the dedication of our entire DART team. Every day, DART advocates provide crisis intervention, advocacy, safety planning, resources, and support to survivors across Los Angeles County, working alongside LAPD and community partners to help survivors navigate some of life's most difficult moments with compassion and care.

This year, we proudly celebrate Erick M. Northeast DART Specialist, who received the 2026 Outstanding Service to Victims of Domestic Violence Award at The California Endowment. Erick's experience, compassion, and commitment to survivors are evident in every aspect of his work. In addition to supporting survivors and collaborating with LAPD partners, he shares his knowledge through volunteer trainings, community education, and LAPD roll-call trainings.

Erick's recognition follows that of Claudia M., Hollywood DART Specialist, who received the same distinction during DVAM 2025 through the Mayor's Office of Public Safety. Claudia was honored for her outstanding service and commitment to victims of domestic violence and has made a lasting impact on survivors, colleagues, and communities throughout Los Angeles County. Claudia was acknowledged at various events along with other service providers, officers, detectives and community partners.  

Together, Claudia and Erick exemplify the compassion, expertise, and dedication that define the DART program at Peace Over Violence. Their recognitions highlight the powerful impact of survivor-centered advocacy and the importance of standing with survivors every day.

We are incredibly proud of Erick, Claudia, and our entire DART team. While recognition is never the goal, these back-to-back honors are a meaningful reminder of the difference that dedicated advocates make in the lives of survivors and the communities we serve.
