SUMMARY
Peace Over Violence is seeking an experienced and compassionate sexual & domestic violence crisis counselor. The Hotline Counselor Advocate works as part of the Intervention Division/ Emergency Response Team under the supervision of the Volunteer & Hotline Manager, the Hotline Counselor Advocate will be responsible for providing trauma informed, crisis intervention services to callers via Peace Over Violence’s L.A. Rape and Battering hotline. The hotline Counselor Advocate is on calling during a six (6) hour shift to support survivors and sig. others and is responsible for meeting survivors needs, offering and providing advocacy, follow up services, information referral, safety assessment and planning. The Hotline Counselor Advocate will provide efficient, reliable support survivors in the LA County Community and will work closely with the Intervention division team members.
Shift A: Overnight: Thursday through Sunday (4 days) 7pm to 1:30am
Shift B: Overnight: Thursday through Sunday (4 days) 1am to 6:30am
Shift C: Evening: Thursday through Sunday (4 days) 5pm to 11:30pm
Responsibilities and DUTIES
Provide TIR, crisis intervention, information and referrals to individuals calling the 24-hour hotline.
Complete telephone intakes or factsheets for data collection
Offer and provide Advocacy & follow up services to callers as requested.
Provide safety planning and needs assessment for continuation for services.
Offer referrals and other assistance as needed by callers.
Enter statistical data for contract and other reporting requirements as needed.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Follow Peace Over Violence confidentiality policy for all clients, staff, volunteer, and agency information.
Represent the agency in a positive, professional manner at all times.
Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients and other staff.
Attend staff, intervention, supervision & In-service meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have completed Peace Over Violence CALOES Certified 82.5 hour Counselor Advocate training or either CA 40 hours sexual assault and/or Domestic violence training.
Experience in providing Trauma informed services.
Bilingual Spanish Preferred
