SUMMARY
Peace Over Violence (POV) is seeking a CalWORKs Coordinator to provide comprehensive case management, life skills support, and training services to CalWORKs participants who are survivors of domestic violence. This position supports client safety, stability, self-sufficiency, and long-term empowerment through trauma-informed, survivor-centered services. The ideal candidate must have the ability to provide trauma-informed care services to victims of domestic violence while maintaining a survivor-centered, empowerment-based approach.
This position also requires a highly organized and detail-oriented administrative professional who can effectively track program service activities, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with county and CalWORKs program requirements. The CalWORKs Coordinator works collaboratively with POV’s clinical and case management teams under the supervision of the Clinical Services Director and is responsible for consistent client engagement, data tracking, reporting, and participation in CalWORKs-related community meetings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Direct/Case Management & Client Services
Provide comprehensive CalWORKs case management, including intake, assessment, goal and safety planning, monitoring progress, and follow-up services.
Conduct CalWORKs eligibility screenings, intakes, and needs assessments.
Maintain an individual caseload and provide consistent client contact and follow-up.
Deliver crisis counseling, emotional support, advocacy, and referrals in person, by phone, in person, walk in and through the POV’s 24-hour hotline.
Assist clients in navigating public systems, including CalWORKs, housing, public benefits, legal systems, employment, education, and healthcare.
Provide safety planning and risk assessment as appropriate for domestic violence cases.
Advocate on behalf of clients with law enforcement, housing providers, CalWORKs staff, and community agencies.
Life Skills Support & Training
Provide or coordinate life skills support and training, including topics such as financial literacy, communication skills, employment readiness, parenting support, self-advocacy, and wellness.
Support clients in developing short- and long-term self-sufficiency goals aligned with CalWORKs participation requirements.
Community & Program Coordination
Attend and participate in community meetings, county meetings, and collaborative forums related to CalWORKs activities and services.
Build and maintain partnerships with CalWORKs agencies and community-based organizations.
Coordinate services with internal POV programs to ensure continuity of care.
Documentation, Compliance & Reporting
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential client records, case notes, and CalWORKs documentation.
Ensure compliance with all confidentiality laws, CalWORKs regulations, and grant requirements.
Prepare and submit required monthly reports, data entry, invoices, data demographics and documentation for funders and POV leadership.
Maintain CalWORKs databases and tracking systems accurately and consistently.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum two (2) years of experience working with survivors of domestic violence or related populations (preferred).
Must have completed 40 hours domestic violence certification.
Knowledge of CalWORKs program requirements, public benefits systems, and relevant state and local regulations.
Experience providing trauma-informed, survivor-centered services.
Strong organizational, documentation, public speaking and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with computers, databases, and standard office technology.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse communities and multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to meet all prerequisite requirements for CalWORKs compliance.
Flexible schedule, including availability for some evenings or weekends.
Completion of or willingness to complete Peace Over Violence’s 82-hour Crisis Intervention, Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Training.
Bilingual Spanish language skills are highly desirable.
