Violence Prevention Specialist Training - Postponed for January 2026

This training is designed to equip volunteers with the necessary skills and knowledge to make a meaningful impact in the field of violence prevention and intervention and educating the community on these topics.

Violence Prevention Specialists, are dedicated to educating various groups about gender-based violence and prevention strategies. They excel in public speaking, outreach at community events, and facilitating workshops and training. As a Violence Prevention Specialist, you will have the opportunity to engage with youth, community organizations, and professionals, delivering important messages about sexual assault, rape prevention, sexual harassment, and building healthy relationships. You will also actively participate in public awareness campaigns such as Denim Day and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.


Requirements

  • Be 18 years of age or older

  • Live in LA County; community members from Metro LA or West San Gabriel Valley preferred

  • Commit to provide service for a one-year period, beginning after the last training session 

  • Pass criminal background check

  • Have reliable transportation, a valid Driver’s license, and proof of current / active insurance 

Qualifications

  • No previous experience needed

  • Willingness

  • Must successfully complete Peace Over Violence's VPS 32 hour training.

  • Must be willing to work with a diverse community.

  • Must participate and pass all practice role plays before the end of the

    training

  • No experience required however must be able provide presentations in the

    community to groups of people upon completion of VPS training.

* No previous experience is required. Please note: all counselor advocates will be subject to an LAPD or POV criminal background check. Due to the monolingual populations we serve, bilingual candidates fluent in Spanish and/or American Sign Language are encouraged to apply.
