ABOUT THE SUMMIT
Elevating Peer Support in LA County will bring together a multi-sector audience of peer support workers (PSWs) and their employers, including county departments, to create a common understanding and shared learning about the value of peer support and build a foundation for a more equitable and integrated peer approach.
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health Trauma Prevention Initiative (TPI) is organizing this summit in partnership with Peace Over Violence and Lumos Transforms to advance planning for the Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Violence Prevention Learning Academy. The goals of P2P include cross-training PSWs, such as community intervention workers, domestic violence advocates, promotoras, community health workers, and others, in violence prevention and trauma informed practices, and connecting PSWs to provide system navigation within TPI communities. The long term goal of P2P is to build infrastructure and advance systems change in LA County to support and build career pathways for PSWs.
