Crisis Intervention Training

Counselor-advocates provide counseling, advocacy, education, and referrals to survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, stalking, and child abuse. They answer crisis calls on Peace Over Violence’s 24-hour LA Rape and Battering Hotline, and respond in-person to hospitals and police stations to provide one-on-one support to survivors and significant others. After successful completion of the 65-hour Crisis Intervention training, volunteer counselor-advocates make a one-year commitment to taking a weekly 4-8 hour shift within the hotline and accompaniment program.
