Program Requirements
Volunteer counselor-advocates must:
- be a woman
- be at least 18 years old
- successfully complete POV’s Crisis Intervention volunteer training
- have valid California Drivers License, reliable transportation, and at least minimum auto liability insurance coverage as required by law
- be able to fulfill one-year commitment to taking a weekly 4-hour shift
- have private, uninterrupted access to a phone line for the weekly 4-hour shift
- attend monthly in-service meetings (the second Monday evening of each month) for continued certification and participation in the Crisis Intervention volunteer program
- consistently complete and submit required documentation for all hotline calls and accompaniments
