Spanish-Language Crises Intervention Training

In 1997, the Latina Services program conducted the first monolingual sexual assault & domestic violence volunteer crisis intervention training to Spanish speaking women in California. The training is provided for female bilingual residents seeking to prevent and intervene in sexual and domestic violence against Spanish-speaking individuals. The training includes topics such as:

  • Crisis Intervention Counseling Principles & Techniques
  • Rape/Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Overview & Counseling
  • Rape & Domestic Violence Legal, Medical & Law Enforcement Information
  • Cross Cultural/Diversity Sensitivity
  • Incest/Child Abuse/Impact Of Domestic Violence On Children
  • Advocacy, Follow-up and In-person Skills among other topics.
  • Parenting Classes

To join the Latina Services volunteers you must successfully complete the 65-hour training and commit to one year of service providing: either through community education, in-person and telephone crisis counseling, administrative support etcetera.
